(San Bernardino, CA)- Teamsters at Chino Valley Fire District have voted to ratify a new contract, marking a significant win for the dedicated workers who ensure the community’s safety and support fire protection efforts. This ratification comes on the heels of an organized mobilization by Chino Valley Fire District Teamsters, who stood united with Chino Valley Firefighters at a recent Fire Board meeting to advocate for fair and equitable contract terms.

The contract demonstrates dedication to the workers and the essential services they provide to the Chino Valley region by increasing the workers’ cafeteria plan, COLAs, medical benefits, certification pay, and other significant improvements. Through their collective efforts, Teamsters at the Chino Valley Fire District have displayed what worker power looks like and the importance of mobilizing together to fight for a fair contract.

During negotiations, we pushed for a fair contract and better medical benefits, but management showed no interest in fairness. In response, we stood united, wearing union pins, bringing our concerns directly to management, and attending every board meeting. When the district’s offer fell short, we unanimously rejected it and spoke out with strength, unity, and the solidarity of our fellow brothers and sisters. Working with the firefighter’s union, we organized, canvassed, and hosted community BBQs to inform the public about the true purpose of unions, says Jason Rivera, a member of Chino Valley Fire District.

The unity shown by Chino Valley Fire Teamsters is a powerful reminder of what worker power truly means. This triumph is proof that when workers fight together, they win together. But make no mistake—our fight is far from over. We still face significant challenges, and we’re determined to keep pushing forward by signing up our members for D.R.I.V.E. There are forces out there working tirelessly to strip away our members’ rights, and we must stay united to defend their jobs, their pensions, and the future well-being of the communities we serve. Together, we will keep fighting for what’s right—for our members, for their families, and for everyone who counts on us. – says Randy Korgan, Secretary-Treasurer, Teamsters Local 1932.

This ratified contract sets a precedent for future negotiations and reinforces the power of collective action within the Chino Valley Fire District workforce. Our local remains committed to supporting our members in their ongoing efforts to protect the well-being and security of the community they serve.
