Rialto Employees Secure First Contract

CITY OF RIALTO EMPLOYEES SECURE FIRST CONTRACT UNDER TEAMSTERS

On Wednesday, July 24th, the City of Rialto Midmanagement employees, ratified their first contract as Teamsters Local 1932 members. The contract vote lasted a week, resulting in a vote tally of 26 to 1.

Before becoming Teamsters in 2022, Midmanagers at Rialto didn’t secure what they are about to receive in this new contract. “Before joining Teamsters, we were alone. Going to those meetings and not having support or representation was tough. But now, I’m excited about this contract and it feels good to say I’m a Teamster.” Said Shanita Simmons, Purchasing Manager for Rialto and Teamsters Local 1932 member.

Now that the Midmanagement employees of Rialto have their first union contract with Teamsters, the Midmanagment bargaining unit secured cost of living increases, an increase in their medical benefit, a signing bonus, and many other great benefits.

“This contract is only the beginning. We have much more that we want to go after but this is the first step. The bottom line is that my members love their jobs and the city they live in and they understand that when they fight together, they win together.” Said Beth Zendejas, Business Agent at Teamsters Local 1932.
